EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The Africa UK Business Conference & Awards are being organized and hosted by The Business Executive Media Group in collaboration with the Africa Chamber of Trade and the International Business Council. The entire event is designed in response to the growing trend of regionalism by the industrialized nations of the western hemisphere which have led to events such as the United States – Africa Summit and the United Kingdom – Africa Summit; and which have subsequently been replicated by eastern hemisphere countries such as Russia and China. The impending event aims at extending this trend - with specific focus on trade and investment - to Africa and the UK which is the largest single trading partner of most of the continent’s biggest economies which are led by Nigeria and South Africa, and which importantly are the UK’s traditional biggest economic counterparties with business relationships stretching back centuries.

RATIONALE FOR THE AWARDS
The UK has traditionally been the largest trade and investment partner of Africa taken on a continental basis, measured by both volumes and values. This is primarily the result of the historic ties between the two, with the United Kingdom, France and Portugal having colonized most of Africa in centuries past 
PARTICIPATION AT THE CONFERENCE
The theme for the one day conference is: “ Expanding trade and investment relationships between Africa and the UK.” The core of participation at the conference will comprise individual award winners and representatives of enterprise/institutional winners, all of whom are automatically eligible to attend the conference.
SELECTION CRITERIA
The following selection criteria will be used to guide in the assessment of nominations. The criteria will be used to build quantitative models for scoring nominations. However the criteria used and score weightings applied to each will differ from one broad category to another, based on their relevance and impact with regard to the overall assessment.
SELECTION PROCESS
The following comprehensive process will be used to assess all nominations and thus determine the award winners.
The section of award winners will be done through a comprehensive process that ensures the integrity of the awards selection process and consequently the credibility of the awards themselves. The selection process will comprise of the following stages;

The 3rd African Outstanding Professionals Awards organised by The Business Executive Media Group is a pan continental awards scheme designed to identify and publicly recognize extraordinarily capable and accomplished professionals across the various delineated fields of activity.
